
On 7 July, the Secretariat for Quality in Health and Secretariat for Food, Bioeconomy and Regional Development issued Resolution N° 1/2022 that the introduces the beverage called "KOMBUCHA" to the Argentinean Food Code.
In summary, this provides for:
- Permitted ingredients.
- The Simbiotic Colony Of Bateria and Yeast (SCOBY) and its corresponding microorganisms.
- Maximum alcohol level must be 05 % Vol (20°C).
- Specific labelling requirements (additional to the rules for labelling of packaged foods).
It is worth mentioning that this approval brings opportunities for KOMBUCHA (as a live beverage) to grow its market in Argentina, while the pasteurised product must be differentiated with the legend "PASTEURISED".
