On 5 October, the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) published a  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document to provide more information about the food contaminants legislation in the country.

In Brazil, food contaminants are ruled by Resolution RDC N° 487/2021, in which the maximum residue limits (MRLs) for contaminants in foods are provided, as well as the general principles for its establishment and the methods of analysis for the purpose of conformity assessment; and its Normative Instruction N° 88/2021 that foresees MRLs.

Although is a non-regulatory document the FAQ helps companies and national authorities by clarifying existing doubts in the application and interpretation of the above-mentioned regulations.
