The Ministry of Agriculture opened for public consultation the draft of the Technical Regulation for roasted coffee.

It is worth mentioning that roasted coffee is currently ruled by Resolution RDC N° 277/2005, which approved the Technical Regulation for coffee, cevada, tea, ervamate and solute products, however it only provides general rules for such products.

The draft proposes specific technical requirements, thus developing clearer rules on classification, identity and quality, sensory characteristics, as well as the corresponding requirements for the coffee labelling.

If approved, the regulation would be enforced 18 months after publication.

Comments will be received by 29 September 2021, and shall be forwarded through the System for Monitoring Normative Acts (SISMAN)?, of the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense - SDA/MAPA
