On 6 July, ANVISA published in the Official Gazette Resolution RDC N° 727/2022 which provides for the general labelling of pre-packaged foods.

 

This resolution does not introduce changes in the current rules, but bring all of them together in the same text. The following provisions are revoked:

• Resolution RDC Nº 259/2002 the previous version of the Technical Regulation on general labelling of pre-packaged foods.
• Resolution RDC Nº 123/2004, amending item 3.3 of Resolution RDC Nº 259/2002.
• Resolution RDC Nº 340/2002 on tartrazine labelling.
• Resolution RDC Nº 35/2009 providing the labelling rules for eggs. 
• Resolution RDC No. 26/2015 providing the labelling rules for allergens.
• Resolution RDC No. 136/2017 providing the labelling rules for lactose.
• Resolution RDC Nº 459/2020, providing the labelling rules for pork and poultry meat.
• Normative Instruction - IN No. 67/2020 providing the technical labelling rules for new formulations (products with changes on their original formulas). 

 

Resolution RDC N° 727/2022 will be enforced on 1^st September 2022. 

In addition, as part of this regulatory revision and optimisation, ANVISA issued other 15 new regulations on contaminants, food additives, enzymes, sugar, food fortification, whole foods, modified foods, ice cream, confectionery products, among others.
