The National Institute of Foods and Nutrition (INAN, per its Spanish acronym) from Paraguay is conducting a national survey on Front-Of-Pack (FOP) nutrition labelling to support the national contribution for the discussion of a harmonise FOP nutrition labelling within the Common Market Group of MERCOSUR.

The survey would seek to explore the understanding of the Paraguayan population on the FOP nutrition labelling sharing a concept on it, as follows:

?The FOP nutrition labelling is a label to be placed on the front of the package of a food product. The FOP nutrition labelling aims to provide information to consumers in a graphic and simple way about food products containing high levels of sugar, sodium and fat. The FOP nutrition labelling is one of the strategies against obesity and chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)??

In addition, the survey compares the preference and understanding on two FOP nutrition labelling scheme:

- The first, a black and white octagon with the phrase ?HIGH IN?, which differs from the phrase implemented in Uruguay (?EXCESS?), but similar to the proposal being discussed in Argentina.

- The second, the same model already approved in Brazil, a magnifying glass with the phrase ?HIGH IN? to identify the high content of critical nutrients.
