
On 28 July, Argentina issued Resolution RESFC-2022-5-APN-SCS#MS that incorporates vegan and vegetarian products in the Argentine Food Code (CAA).
????This regulation applies to foods that do not contain ingredients of animal origin and their derivatives, including additives and processing aids, So they may bear claims such as "only with ingredients of vegetable origin", "100% vegetable" or "plant-based".
According to the regulation, the term "vegan" is only allowed for products that do not contain ingredients of animal origin and/or their derivatives. While the term "Vegetarian" can be used in products that do not contain ingredients of animal origin and/or their derivatives except for those containing milk, eggs and/or honey or their derivatives.
In either case, interested companies must prove their products meet this rules. This regulation is already effective.
